Yes Sir Boss
Thu 18 Oct

Yes Sir Boss sound like everything from a brooding blues band to a jangly folk rock outfit to a full on reggae group. In the end, though, it's the melding of all these sounds that makes YSB's shambolic, funky, rootsy, tunes so beguilingly unique. With their debut album "Desperation State" out now on Joss Stone's Stone'd Records, they take to the stage at the Jazz Café to blow our ears and minds!

Irma + Dream Koala
Tue 13 Nov
  SENSHUKAI presents
Yu Sakai
+ Special guest AJ Unity feat Nate James Sun 11 Nov
Without a doubt, Irma is part of a generation who dares to do just about anything. Kicking down preconceived ideas and breaking boundaries, she blurs the lines between musical genres. Since the release of her album, Irma has opened for a number of major French artists including M-, Diam's, Micky Green, Tété. Each time, the crowd seemed to be falling under the spell of her melodies and her voice.   Japans Yu Sakai brings his unique voice and creative blend of original sound to the Jazz Cafe. Drawing from a wide range of musical styles, such as soul music, R&B, jazz, gospel and rock, he comes in support of his latest album Hows It Going?".

Shuggie Otis + Marcus Bonfanti
Tue 20 & Wed 21 Nov
  Tidal Concerts presents
The Grandmothers of Invention
+ Erza Axelrod & The Motel Band
Fri 23 & Sat 24 Nov
Compared with Hendrix and BB King at the age of 15, Shuggie's stand out works are the two expansive, genre-defying, deeply curious albums, 1971's Freedom Flight and 1974's Inspiration Information. The records, essentially crafted as a one- man band, floored Sly Stone, gave the Brothers Johnson their most enduring hit (Strawberry Letter 23) and predated the stylistic synthesist Prince by half a decade. Don't miss this debut London show from the genius multi-instrumentalist.   The GrandMothers of Invention are the only Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention alumni who have been consistently performing the music of the maestro since 2003. From the classic "Freak Out", "We're Only In It For The Money" and "Burnt Weeny Sandwich" to "Weasels Ripped My Flesh", they have performed on a long list of classic Frank Zappa & the Mother's of Invention's albums, movies and other projects, and take to the stage at the Jazz Cafe this November!
