Fri 1 Feb
  Orelsan
Tue 19 Feb
Together with the two MCs Q-Tip and Phife Dawg, DJ and producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad is one third of A Tribe Called Quest, one of the best and most influential hip hop groups of all time. He's responsible for more classics than most rap stars have released tracks. As a producer, he's the foundation of A Tribe Called Quest's success subsequently influencing a generation of rappers and producers to come: without Ali producers such as Jay Dee, Madlib and Pharell/Neptunes would have never existed. Don't miss the legendary pioneer live at the Jazz Cafe.   Don't miss the debut UK show from the French hip hop superstar. Orelsan aka Aurelien Cotentin is France's biggest hip hop artist. He became famous with his first album called "Raelsan", and second album "Le chant des Sirenes" is the confirmation and recognition of his talent. James Chance & Les Contorsions
Mon 25 Feb
  Incognito
Sat 12 (added by popular demand), Fri 25 & Sat 26 Jan
James Chance is a legend: the free form playing of Albert Ayler with the solid funk rhythm of James Brown, though filtered through a punk rock lens. Since 2006 James has been playing with Les Contortions, three French musicians. Together they have played more than 60 shows all across the world, and recorded a new album together in 2011. "Incorrigible!" is the first original album by the pope in almost more than a decade.   Celebrating the brilliance of their 15th Studio Album 'Surreal' Incognito returns to Jazz Cafe after a long hiatus. Bluey leader of Incognito says of their latest release "We have our own sound, and we have a fan base worldwide, this was not the time to sit on our laurels or cut corners to compete in a struggling market place, nor was it time just do just enough to get by. For each one of us taking part in the making of "Surreal" this was our chance to make bold statements, hone in our skills, dig deep into our creative souls and produce a body of work that we would all be extremely proud of. Job done!"
